I wanted to make a purse I could use everyday and I already had this pattern in my stash.
I used Simplicity Pattern 8028 Clutch, Wristlet and Purse in Two Sizes. I cut view C for the purse.
Fabric: I used some leather-like metallic gold fabric, off-white snake skin vinyl, and some blue multicolored african inspired print for the lining.
Notions: Items on the instructions including a taupe zipper, taupe thread, clear thread, magnetic snap, and a gold purse chain up cycled from one of my Grandmother's old purses, and of course, a Mystery Maracuja tag.
How did it look compared to the pattern? It matched up very well.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
Likes? It was not a complicated project. I enjoyed making this and it helped me understand more about basic handbag construction.
Dislikes? This is a small purse for me! I am having trouble minimizing what I put in it so that it can actually fold down and snap closed. I've had to downsize. I like that it is light and cute.
Pattern changes? I used a metal chain instead of making a strap out from the matching fabric. I also skipped the D rings and connected the chain directly, but I am going to get/make some so the loop does not rip.
Will I sew this again? Maybe.
Would I recommend this to others? Yes. If you like the type of purse.
