Well I couldn't have predicted this one either. I will have a nephew in less than a month and my brother will be the first of us 5 to have a child. I was invited to join this baby shower committee on short notice and it was the day after my big jewelry event. But I was able to contribute my artistic talent (and $) by designing the shower invitation. Lindsay likes Disney, so baby Mickey was the theme.
On the day of the baby shower, I had to help my cousin Courtney after she got stranded on I-44 with a flat tire, so unfortunately we were very late. It was a nice and simple event. Lindsay looked very beautiful and happy. Tony was home watching football. They had another shower in Altus and Courtney went to that one too.
On a side note, there were several times when I got a little emotional b/c my younger Sisters had to miss this since they are way far away. When Lindsay started pulling out little Michigan baby clothes, Courtney said, "It just got real." It really hit me then. My younger brother is having a baby with his wife! Whoa!!!
Now that I've done that twice, I prefer to be a guest, not a planner. There will be very few exceptions. It was fun and I'm glad I was able to participate, but baby showers can be a lot of work. Add Pinterest to that and you need to rest the day after.
Well, is there anything more important than celebrating the birth of your first child? I'm just glad I was there to be a part of both of these celebrations! Cheers to showering babies!!
